ISLAMABAD, March 18: Senator Lt Gen Ret Abdul Qayum of Pakistan of Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) on Friday said that Pakistan is trying to reduce tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
He was speaking at the Turkish martyr’s day, commemorating 101st anniversary of the decisive Turkish victory on the allied Armada at the Dardanells (Canakhale), conducted by Rumi Forum.
Gen Qayum said that presently four hot spots in the world, in which Ukraine in Eurasia, Kashmir and Afghanistan in South Asia and Palestine and Iraq in Middle East. These issues should be resolved otherwise peace and stability almost impossible in the world.
He said that Turks not so strong enough in the shape of weapons and war equipment during the First World War, but they fight with dedication and we have pride on Turks as great warriors” he said.
He said that present Pakistani leadership given too much importance to Turkey and both States have cordial relation with each other. Pakistan also trying to bring Islamic world close to each other.
He said terrorism is not problem relate to one country or region but all over the world facing this menace. Executive President of Suat Erguvan said that Dardanells (Canakhale) war 1915 was important event in the history of turkey. Despite of limited weapons and resources soldiers fight with bravery. He said that during the First World War Turkey sacrificed more than 2.5 million people. Professor Samina Awan said that people of Pakistan given greater value to Turks. Even women of Sub-continent submitted their golden ornaments for the Turk warriors during First World War.-Online
