The front of the country’s politics has once again heated up. The opposition is claiming that it will send the government home as a result of the no-confidence motion. On the other hand, the government is confident that it can thwart the no-confidence motion of the opposition parties. The question is whether removing Imran Khan from the post of Prime Minister will be sufficient in solving Pakistan’s problems. Of course, the answer to this question is no. The country is currently suffering from a lot of problems these days. Onone hand, the country’s economy is declining as a result of the Corona epidemic, whilethe war between Russia and Ukraine is also having a negative impact on a developing country like Pakistan. What we need today is, of course, consensus and unity. The government and opposition should work together to get the country out of trouble. Pakistan’s history tells us that every political crisis has hurt ordinary Pakistanis more than our political elite. Perhaps it is rightly said that we are a nation which is unwilling to learn from history. One view is that since we have no continuity in the democratic system, our politicians lack ideal political maturity. There are flaws in the democracy that have been presentsince the last two decades. Work needs to be done to fix them. In fact, one of the major tasks that need to be done is to train the nation. This can be done by, for example, increasing the literacy rate. One of the major weaknesses of our democracy is the absence of a local body system, which is unimaginable in any mature democracy in the world. In fact, the local government system is the backbone of democracy. It is unfortunate that not only our politicians but also the national media are not ready to increase the pressure to bring about a local government system. We have to play a role in making the current system truly people-friendly, rather than a verbal deposit. Another sad truth about our politics is that we resort to personal enmity instead of ideological differences. The rhetoric that government leaders and opposition leaders have been adopting for each other in recent times is certainly worrying. Why don’t our leaders understand that their behavior can lead the young generation astray? Our political and religious leaders have to think about the fact that every action of theirs will be a part of the history of the nation. If today they are doing something inappropriate for temporary political interests, how will they be remembered in history? In this world of technology, it has not been easy to fool others. The educated youth of Pakistan actually compares their politicians with the politicians of other countries of the world. The question is why it is not possible for political leaders to speak the truth in front of the nation, telling them that it will take time to overcome issues like inflation. Unfortunately, after Quaid-e-Azam, no politician can be named who has trusted the nation’s people. In fact, the democratic system of the West is proving to be beneficial for the people because it tells less lies than the people. In this background,if we are to make progress, we must truly trust our people.
