ISLAMABAD, March 14: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has started the promotion of Quran and Sunnah teachings in the country. In this regard, an international seminar was held yesterday here at AIOU. Prof. Dr. Abu SufyanIslahi of Aligarh Muslim University, India was the keynote speaker of the seminar while Prof. Dr. MohyuddinHashimi, Dean, Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies presided over the seminar. Giving a lecturer on Study of Quranic Words and Phrases , Dr. Abu SufyanIslahi said that unless the Holy Quran is understood and read properly, guidance from this holy book cannot be obtained and the purpose of revelation is not fulfilled. He said that Holy Quran itself asks that whatever you read, you should understand. He explained the meaning and significance of various rare words of the Holy Quran. Prof. Islahi, while emphasizing on understanding the meaning and significance of Quranic words, said that these words are the choice of Allah and it is necessary for all of us to understand their meaning and significance. He also mentioned the rare words of SurahKausar, Surah Yaseen and Surah Rehman. Prof. Dr. MohyuddinHashimi said that such conferences are very useful for scholars and researchers. Dr. Sanaullah Hussain, Chairman, Department of Quran and Tafseer, explained the aims and objectives of the seminar, thanked the guest speakers, organizers and scholars for attending the seminar. He said that this conference has been organized with the special support of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum.-PR
