Modi’s air-dash to Lahore from Kabul on his way home after his flying visit to Afghanistan last week was not more than a storm in a tea cup and that was that. High on his list of priorities these days is how to rehabilitate India’s image in the eyes of the world as a peace loving country and his sojourn to Lahore was a part of Modi’s mission to dispel the general impression that he is after the blood of muslims. He also wants to see India becoming a permanent member of the security council of the UN for which he wants Islamabad’s support . We should not jump the gun and start believing that there is really change of heart on his part. One swallow doesn’t make a summer. How can we believe him when he blows hot and cold in the same breath?Didn’t he spit venom against us in Kabul a little while before boarding his plane for Lahore?Didn’t he pour scorn on us in Nepal?
Imran Khan has a point there when he says that the prime minister must not bypass the Foreign Office and parliament while entering into any sort of political understanding with India on any issue. The over enthusiasm of the prime minister to forge trade ties with India should not blind him to the fact that India is trying to bleeds us white with its water aggression against us as well by refusing to heed to the UN resolution about plebiscite in the occupied valley of Kashmir and unless it changes its stance on these two vital issues no meaningful change is going to occur in the Indo-Pak relations.
Those who fully know the ins and outs of Hindu mentality understand that the Hindus excel in the art of sycophancy whenever they need any assistance from anyone , including their small neighbouring countries but once they achieve their objective they revert to the haughtiness which they often observe in their dealings with their neighbours whom they always want to dominate.
