Jakarta (ANTARA) – Governing officials that had been selected and officiated would have their work performance reviewed and evaluated every three months, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian stated.
“Every three months, in line with what the law states, these officials must create reports on work performance. Afterwards, we can evaluate, (judge) whether their performance was good or not,” Minister Karnavian remarked here on Thursday.
The minister reiterated President Jokowi’s directives that necessitated these officials to work in a professional manner.
Karnavian reminded the officials to support the national strategic programs while concurrently also addressing regional-scope issues in their respective areas.
The minister stated that the five selected officials had gone through the set procedures. Prior to being selected, they also went through more processes that involved inputs from ministries, agencies, and public figures.
He cited as an example Paulus Waterpauw, who was chosen after being suggested by the West Papua People’s Assembly and other relevant stakeholders. There are also suggestions from other ministries, such as the Youth and Sports Ministry and the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, and they even sought inputs from the regional administration.
The minister compelled the House of Representatives, Regional House of Representatives, as well as Regional Representative Council to monitor the work performance of the selected officials.
Karnavian emphasized that if anything failed to align with the regulation, then they could report to the Home Affairs Ministry, as they held regular meetings with the Regional Representative Council and Regional House of Representatives.
On Thursday, May 12, 2022, the minister appointed five people to replace officials, whose terms of office had ended. The officials were the governors of Banten, Bangka Belitung, West Sulawesi, Gorontalo, and West Papua.
