The Eurasian Economic Forum will be held in Bishkek this week. The event will bring together participants from all over the region, the sides will discuss current problems and ways out of the current situation. The situation is really not simple. Countries had barely begun to recover from the consequences of the coronavirus, when they faced sanctions caused by the situation in Ukraine. You need to understand that the effect of sanctions against Russia will sooner or later reach neighboring countries, including the members of the EAEU. The member countries of the EAEU are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
The event covers a wide range of issues and deals with topics related to the economy, logistics, digitalization. In total, there will be 6 panel discussions during which a total of 20 sessions will be held. In addition, the event will be attended by the heads of state of the EAEU member states in an online format.
The forum is important because the participants in all processes themselves will be able to discuss the accumulated problems, disagreements and find solutions. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov spoke about the importance of the forum during his visit to Moscow.
“The Kyrgyz economy has not yet recovered from the coronavirus pandemic, and the sanctions situation is already threatening food and energy security, macroeconomic stability and social stability,” said President Sadyr Zhaparov then.
The head of state stressed that in these conditions there is a need to discuss and develop common approaches to mitigate the consequences of the sanctions and prevent the deterioration of the socio-economic situation during the upcoming meetings of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the first Eurasian Economic Forum in Bishkek.
During the forum, the main directions of the development of the Eurasian space will be touched upon. In total there will be 6 discussion zones:
Prospects for the strategic development of Eurasian integration in the era of global change
Financial markets and development institutions (development banks): opportunities for macroeconomic stability and growth points for the economies of the EAEU countries
Industry and agro-industrial complex as drivers of economic growth of the Union and ensuring economic security
Energy and transport infrastructure to promote economic development and integration
EAEU Digital Agenda 2.0
New areas of cooperation in the EAEU
In addition, the forum will host an exhibition of agro-industrial products of the Eurasian Economic Union member states.
“Within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Forum, it is planned to organize and hold an Exhibition of the best agro-industrial products of the Eurasian Economic Union member states. The holding of the agro-industrial exhibition will allow using the Forum platform for presentation of achievements and information support of domestic producers, create additional incentives to increase the competitiveness of the Union’s goods, and will contribute to the development of mutual trade and export of goods of the EAEU,” the organizers say.
The experience of recent years shows that it is much easier to solve problems with partners, this has been excellently demonstrated by the coronavirus pandemic. Strengthening partnerships for Kyrgyzstan is an important task, because it will not only help find solutions to current problems, but also open up new horizons for development, markets, and growth for business. In general, the development of the economies of each country and the region as a whole is the main agenda of the upcoming forum.
