ISLAMABAD, March 25: Chairman PTI, Imran Khan on Friday expressed grave concern over the capture of a senior RAW operative from Balochistan.
In a statement, Khan said it is time the government should take the nation into confidence regarding RAW’s destabilizing activities in Pakistan and its involvement in terrorism.
Khan said it was vital that Pakistan and India deal with the menace of terrorism on a reciprocal basis, sharing information and cooperating with one another to counter terrorism. As the Brussels attacks have shown, terrorism is global in nature and needs a global as well as a regional cooperative approach. At a time when Pakistan has been cooperating with India, especially in the wake of the Pathankot terrorist attack, India needs to reciprocate and cooperate with Pakistan in instances where acts of terror have taken place against Pakistan and its citizens. The issue of Samjhota Express remains unresolved, and this alarming development of an active senior official of the Indian State being caught in Balochistan, as an operative of RAW, raises some serious issues regarding Indian intent.
He felt it was incumbent upon the Government of Pakistan to inform its people about the extent of RAW activities in Pakistan. He further stated that the Government must also inform its citizenry of the steps being taken to ensure that terrorists do not cross over from its land borders on, both, the north-western and eastern fronts.
Khan asserted that counter terrorism needs a more holistic approach as opposed to the present piecemeal approach the Government has adopted despite an overarching National Action Plan that was supported by the entire national political leadership.-Online
