IFST, KFUEIT celebrates “World Milk Day, 2022”

RAHIM YAR KHAN, June 3: The Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST), KFUEIT celebrated “World Milk Day, 2022” with a number of activities including seminar, awareness walk , MoU with JK Dairies as Industry -Academia Linkage, innovative and value added milk products as student projects, Milk testing facility inauguration at KFUEIT. The event provided an opportunity to experts, food technologists, nutritionists, students and faculty members to interact with each other. Dean of All faculties Prof. Dr. ShehzadMurtaza inaugurated the celebrations. Students decorated 52 stalls of milk products as projects. During the Seminar Dr. Adnan Khaliq explained the purpose of these celebrations and importance of milk for mankind. He said Pakistan is the world’s fourth largest milk producer and the sixth largest consumer. Milk is the biggest source of calcium and other vitamins to boost immunity. He told the participants that in 2022 World Milk Year will be celebrated on the theme of Dairy Net Zero to ensure its implementation for the next 30 years. The best time to drink milk is half an hour after dinner. According to Dr. Adnan, milk contains 18 mano acids which have profound effects on human health. Addressing the function, Registrar Dr Muhammad Saghir said that all the people present here should pledge that they would play their role in building a healthy society. Later, a MoU was signed between JK dairies and KFUEIT. A large number of teachers, industrialists and students also participated in the awareness walk. People were informed about the benefits of drinking milk and were made aware of the harmful substances in milk. Following the awareness walk, a milk testing laboratory was inaugurated at KhwajaFareed University of Engineering and Information Technology in which all milk testing facilities are available. Dr. Adnan Khaliq said that not only teachers and students but also citizens can avail this facility and find out in a few minutes whether the milk is free from adulteration or not. Director Student Affairs Dr. Muhammad Aslam Khan, Dr. Mian Tariq Mahmood, Dr. Jallat Khan, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.-PR
