Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov launched the start of construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP in Jalal-Abad Oblast of the country.
In his speech, the president congratulated those present with joyous event for the country, noting the main directions of development of the domestic energy industry with the implementation of this project.
In addition, Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized the importance of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP for the energy system of the country and Central Asia and called on everyone to work together and make their contribution.
The Construction of Kambar-Ata-1 HPP project is the largest energy facility of the whole cascade of Kambar-Ata Hydropower Plants. It envisages the construction of a 256 m high rock-fill dam and a HPP with an installed capacity of 1860 MW, with an average annual output of 5.6 billion kWh and a full reservoir volume of 5.4 billion m³ of water.
The total construction cost of the HPP is USD 2 billion 916 million 600 thousand. The construction consists of six phases. The project is financed by budgetary funds and attracted investments.
