ISLAMABAD, June 29: A meeting of the Main Group on Skills Development, Manpower and Youth and their challenges was held under the Chairmanship of Executive Director National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), Mr. SajidBaloch in the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives at Islamabad. This Group Meeting was held as part of National Plans Consultation “Turnaround Pakistan Conference” Chaired by Prime Minister of Pakistan and organized by the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives at Islamabad.
The participants of the meeting held detailed and deliberate discussions on the challenges of Skill Development Sector in Pakistan and proposed short term action plan for national roadmap. The Executive Director NAVTTC, Mr. SajidBaloch said that Pakistan is the fifth largest country of the world in terms of population andPakistan has a large labour force that stands among the top ten largest labour forces in the world. Pakistani migrant workers have been playing an essential role in contributing towards its economy through remittances.Pakistan is also blessed to have a significantly large pool of talented youth which, no doubt, are a potential human resource. Therefore, itis the need of the hour to equip the youth with the latest market demand driven and technology oriented income generating technical skills such as Artificial Intelligence, E-Commerce, Robotics, Graphic Designing, Internet of Things, Cyber Security etc., which is only possibleby prioritizing the skill development sector and formulating short term action plan for national roadmap.
During the ensuing discussions, the participants focused on various challenges pertaining to skill development sector including shortage of funding in TVET (Technical & Vocational Education and Training) skills sector, lack of institutional capacity to impart trainings in High-Tech Technologies in line with the international job market requirements.-PR
