ISLAMABAD, June 29 : A seminar on World Environment Day themed “Only One Earth” was held here at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) yesterday. Dean Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood said that the relentless use of national resources is our major problem. We need to create awareness to save national resources to overcome economic and social crisis. Dr. Nasir hoped that these kinds of seminars can play a key role in raising awareness about a pollution-free environment and saving national resources. This seminar was organized by the department of environmental design, health and nutritional sciences, AIOU, and office of research, innovation and commercialization (ORIC) in collaboration with Blue TV and Islamabad Chai.
The speakers gave detailed presentations on the challenges of increasing urbanization and our responsibilities to the nation. They said that many cities do not have adequate facilities for drinking water and sanitation. We need to plant more forests and we have to take measures for the protection of this environment for the survival of our future generations. The speakers pledged to work together for a green and sustainable future. – PR
