PESHAWAR, January 5: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has approved the Traffic Management Plan for the interior Peshawar city and also called a broader meeting next week to discuss other traffic issues as well as the uplift and beautification projects of the provincial capital city.
He also ordered the relevant authorities to prepare a plan for reconstructing all interior roads of the city which require rehabilitation and also expedite the pace of work on establishment of food streets in Peshawar city and Hayatabad to promote the traditional cuisines and famous food culture of the province.
Chairing a meeting regarding traffic problems of Peshawar city at Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Tuesday, Pervez Khattak directed all the towns of Peshawar to spend the money released to them on provision of civic amenities and facilities and also ensure coordination with MPAs and concerned government departments as well as the district administration so as to avoid any duplication of schemes on one hand and effective identification and execution of projects on the other.
The meeting was also attended by the Member of the Provincial Assembly and Focal Person for Peshawar Uplift Projects, Shaukat Yusafzai who proposed one-way traffic plan to ensure smooth and uninterrupted traffic flow in the interior city and identified certain locations and other measures for setting up parking areas. The concerned officers of Transport department, District Nazim, Peshawar, the Deputy Commissioner, SP Traffic and others were also present during the meeting which discussed in detail the traffic and other civic difficulties being faced by Peshawarites.
