ISLAMABAD, April 1: Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that national interests would not be affected due to Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s absence from international Nuclear Security Summit.
During an interview with state run TV, Sartaj Aziz said that US should not give any special remedy to India by enhancing civil nuclear cooperation that may result into imbalance of power among Pakistan and India. Both neighbourinmg countries should be treated equally, he added. “International community at ministerial and Foreign Secretaries level have appreciated the Pakistan’s security measures for atomic assets before the start of Nuclear Summit,” he said adding that US President Barak Obama has lauded the PM Nawaz Sharif’s priorities after Lahore incident. Pakistan had implemented the decisions of last three Nuclear Summits, so absence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in recent Summit would not yield bad results towards national interest, he said adding that PM and me have raised the Nuclear and conventional issues with US secretary of state John Kerry last month.-Sabah
