PESHAWAR, April 1: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai along with Secretary Health Mohammad Abid Majeed on Friday visited Khyber Medical College (KMC) Peshawar and inspected Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Department there. The Minister Health, on the occasion, approved a number of recommendations for further activating the postmortem department of KMC.
The Minister Health approved Rs 51 million for purchasing equipments for Toxicology Lab, provision of special package to doctors of KMC doing postmortems of the bodies and recruiting the required staff in DNA Lab and Toxicology Lab of the Khyber Medical College Peshawar.
During the visit of KMC Peshawar, Principal Professor Dr Ejaz Hassan Khan and Professor Dr Hakim Khan Afridi In charge Department of Forensic Medicine , Toxicology and DNA Profiling briefed the Minister Health and Secretary Health about the performance as well as the difficulties of Forensic Medicine Department.
The Minister Health while speaking on the occasion said the KP Government was providing modern healthcare facilities to the hospitals all over the province for the benefit of poor masses. He said the provision of these facilities would enable the doctors to perform their duties with devotion. He said the department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, KMC would be provided all the required facilities while the required staff would also be provided. Shahram Khan Tarakai said that postmortem facility in Divisional Headquarter Hospitals would be provided under postmortem expert doctors thus proper reporting to the courts as well as provision of justice would become possible.-PR
