World Malaria Day 2016: Pakistan makes tangible progress in achieving targets of national Rollback Malaria Project: Dr Assad Hafeez

ISLAMABAD, April 25: Directorate of Malaria Control Islamabad has commemorated world malaria day 2016 in Islamabad. Director General Ministry of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination Dr Assad Hafeez graced the occasion with his presence. Representatives of World Health Organization, ministries, programmes, academic institutions and private sector organizations attended the event.
The Director General appreciated the efforts of the programme in controlling the malaria in Pakistan. He said that this was made possible due to the support of partner agencies, donor organization and private sector. The global fund has provided support of more than 75 million US dollars over the last five year to implement the grant. Directorate of Malaria Control has remarkably reduced burden of deadly form of malaria from Pakistan, he added. Since 2001 Pakistan has made tangible progress in achieving the 5 years targets of national Rollback Malaria Project. National strategies, policy guidelines have been fully aligned with the WHO Regional Strategic Plans. Director Malaria Control, Muhammad Aslam Khan said that our role is coordination, provision of technical and material support to the provinces.-PR
