LAHORE, April 25: Punjab IT Board (PITB) Chairman Dr Umar Saif has said that nearly 250,000 applications for Hajj have been received through online system devised by the PITB in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs so far. Addressing a meeting held at Arfa Software Technology Park to review the system on Monday, he said: “The transparent balloting will be held at Islamabad on April 29, 2016 in which 83,440 lucky applicants would be selected to perform Hajj under government scheme this year.”
He said across the country, 6,280 branches of designated banks, connected to the online registration system, have been receiving applications since April 18, 2016, adding that the tracking bracelet or locket would be connected to the main ashboard enabling it to locate the position of each pilgrim round-the-clock.
Dr. Saif said that after Government Hajj Scheme balloting, the process of online registration for Private Hajjaj would be started within a month.-Online
