ISLAMABAD, June 1: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday warned the opposition to not impose its will on the government officials by using illegal tactics.
While addressing the joint session of the Parliament in Islamabad, president said that there is no room for errors as the nation needs consensus of both opposition and government on every matter.
He said that the opposition leader should not impose his will on elected leaders and that the economic policies should be continued for the prosperity of the state. Power outage will be eliminated from the country till 2018, he added.
The president has said democratic march during the last three years has been progressing successfully despite ups and downs. He said the political progression is testimony to the fact that political system has gained the potential to face crises successfully.
Mamnoon Hussain said the government that ensure rule of law, economic development and provision of basic needs to the people easily overcome challenges, succeed in stabilizing democracy and reinforce the relationship between an individual and the state.
Talking about China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said that $46 billion project will see several governments before its completion while he also termed reservations of certain communities regarding the project as weightless.
He also announced to build national monument in the memory of those who have sacrificed their lives for the safety of the country. Meanwhile, opposition parties staged protest and demanded to raise voice against United States (US) drone attacks and Panama leaks issue.
Jamshed Dasti placed sticker on his head and demanded to close the US embassy in Pakistan. He also protested against the ruling party during Mamnoon Hussain’s speech. On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Sheikh Rasheed and Khawaja Asif were absent from the session. -DNA
