Army Chief has declared that simply to condemn drone attacks isn’t enough. Condemnation is too small a word for what drone attacks mean. They amount to challenging our sovereignty and will be stopped to uphold the country’s integrity.

This statement has come timely, and has certainly voiced the feelings and the longings of the nation.

Mystery shrouds the killing of Mullah Akhtar Mansoor. We all know there would have been talks in Murree between the Afghan Taliban and the rest of the stake-holders. These talks were to be derailed. It goes without saying that Mullah Mansoor was to be participating in these talks, and the Government should certainly have known about the ‘cover identity’ to be used by Mullah Akhtar Mansoor. At least some officials of the Civil government alongwith the ISI. It would have been known when Mullah Mansoor would be entering Pakistan under his cover identity. Someone in our own government—- certainly some well-informed person or official conveyed to the concerned U.S link the travelling details of Mullah Akhtar Mansoor so that he could be targeted. The objective was certainly to embarrass the I.S.I and the Pak Army yet again. Which quarters in our country have an agenda that clashes with the objectives of the ISI and our military leadership?

This is a question that needs to be answered.

Meanwhile the Nation has reasons to heave a sigh of relief (and pride) that someone in some position of authority in the country has atlast shown some spine to say “No” to Washington.
