Tahirul QadriLAHORE, July 31: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahir ul Qadri Sunday announced to launch a countrywide campaign from August 6 against Model Town tragedy in which 14 people were killed.
Talking to media in Lahore, Qadri said the protest campaign would continue till the victims of Model Town tragedy get justice.
A few-hour long sit-in would be staged in the campaign, he said.
“Bloodshed of Model Town incident will be not forgiven. The movement will be held in all cities of Pakistan for arrest of killers of the Model Town incident and investigation into Panamagate,” he said.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has also announced an anti-government protest rally from Peshawar to Rawalpindi on August 7. According to PTI Spokesman Naeem-ul-Haq, Imran Khan would lead the rally.
“All set for PTI rally on 7 th August from Peshawer to Rawalpindi to be led by IK. Hundreds of thousands to join the rally from all over KPK,” Haq wrote on his Twitter account.
The rally is a part of the opposition’s efforts to press the government to launch probe into Panama Leaks, which involved offshore holdings of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s family.
The PTI spokesman said that a meeting of the ToRs committee has been convened on 6th August. The committee was formed to set up the parliamentary commission to investigate Panama Leaks.
He said that they have also discussed a petition to be filed by Naeem Bukhari against the Prime Minister.
National consultative meeting held by PAT in this regard was attended by representatives of Pakistan People’s Party, Tehreek-e-Insaf, Jamat-e-Islami and Muttahida Qaumi Movement.- NNI
