The recent statement of the KPK’s chief minister asking for a stricter control of the Afghan refugees living off Pakistan reflects the popular sentiments of the common man of this country. The CM has gone as far as asking even for declaration of emergency in the country and house-to-house search for ascertaining the credentials of the Afghan refugees most of whom are living without any official permission to stay in this country. One doesn’t know what is at the back of the mind of the rulers of this country? Why don’t they give immediate and proper attention to the popular demand of the masses of this country to fence the boundary line separating Pakistan and Afghanistan? A strict visa regimen needs to be put in place for all type of movement between the residents of these two countries. Those employees of NADRA who have been instrumental in issuing Pakistani identity cards to Afghan nationals should be given exemplary punishment and those politicians on whose recommendations Afghan nationals have been given employment is such a sensitive institution like NADRA should also not escape punishment.
The complete silence of the Interior minister for the last couple of days has raised many eyebrows. If a person holding such a sensitive assignment shuts his mouth when the country is confronted with serious law and order situation, misgivings are bound to arise in the mind of the ordinary people of the country. If he was ill, issuing a simple bulletin could have put to rest all types of rumours that he has developed differences with the prime minister on some policy matters.
The former governor of the Panjab Chaudri Sarwar is a witty man. His recent statement that the present rulers of the country are more dangerous to the country and its people than the Swine fever is meaningful.
