- Says PM to “forcefully” highlight Kashmir issue at UNGA session
ISLAMABAD, August 18: : The spokesperson for the Foreign Office on Thursday slammed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent statement regarding Balochistan and denounced Indian intelligence agencies, blaming them for terrorist activities in Pakistan.
In his weekly news briefing on Thursday, Nafees Zakariya, the spokesperson for the Foreign Office, said that Modi’s recent statement was an unsuccessful attempt to hide Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir.
“Balochistan is a crucial part of Pakistan,” he said, adding, “Pakistani people are a victim of Indian intelligence agencies’ subversive activities.”
Referring to the arrest of Indian spy Kulbhushan Yadav from Balochistan, the spokesperson said: “Kalbhushan and his network was involved in spreading terrorism and destabilizing activities in Karachi and Balochistan.”
Modi had sparked controversy on the Indian Independence Day on August 15 when he had alleged that Pakistan was a supporter of ‘terrorism’ and that the people of Balochistan, Gilgit and Kashmir had thanked him in the past few days.
Talking about the Kashmir issue, Nafees Zakariya said that Pakistan was ready to provide medical aid to the injured in occupied Kashmir. He said that more than 150 Kashmiris’ vision had deteriorated in one or both eyes.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would raise the Kashmir issue at the UN General Assembly meeting next month and inform the world of the Indian atrocities in the region.
The spokesperson also slammed the Indian Home Minister for his recent remarks, saying that his statement went against the norms of diplomacy as well as against the Saarc charter. He added that the Indian Foreign Secretary had still not replied formally to the letter written by his Pakistani counterpart inviting India to a dialogue on the Kashmir issue. He declined to comment on the media reports on the matter.-Agencies
