MULTAN, September 19: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Monday that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has every right to lodge a protest therefore the government must not stop them from protesting.
Speaking to media representatives, Gilani pinned hope that if state institutions continued to perform as they were expected to, there would no issues during the Raiwind march. He put serious concerns that Panama Leaks Scandal was an important matter and should be dealt accordingly.
Chairman PTI Imran Khan on Sunday announced to lead Raiwind March – ‘a war of Pakistan’s future’, on September 30. He warned that if Pakistani Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) tried to stop the march then the government would be responsible for any untoward situation, ARY News reported on Sunday. “All Pakistan is invited to reach Raiwind on September 30. Preparations for the march and departure of convoys from different cities should start on 24th. PTI workers will welcome convoys on their way to Raiwind,” he said while addressing a PTI Workers Convention in Islamabad yesterday. PTI leadership would also extend last minute invitations to opposition parties in a bid to convince them to participate in the protest and sit-in in unison against the alleged government’s corruption along with PTI. Mr Khan has said on several occasions that his party would continue to protest on the roads until justice was served on the Panamagate Scandal. Chairman PTI has launched a countrywide Ehtesab (accountability) Movement against the governing PML-N, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, who is also his brother. -DNA
