As the date of the proposed Raiwind march is drawing near political temperature on both sides of the political divide is heating up.The workers of the PTI are looking forward to the day when they would like to show their strength to the maximum while their counterparts in Nawaz League are girding up their loins to stop them through use of force should any one of them tried to move towards Jati Umra which houses the residences of the prime minister and his family members .The TV channels should not have shown some workers of Nawaz League carrying sticks in their hands and threatening to beat their political rivals in case they tried to indulge in any sit-in near Jati Umra.Telecasting such provocative footage amounted to showing red rag to the bull.
The leadership of both the PTI and Nawaz League would have to show tolerance ,patience and restrain in this volatile and highly emotionally charged atmosphere .They ought to keep their workers at bay.God forbid they are prone to breaking each other’s skulls should they come face to face on the occasion of Raiwind march.A slight mishap in such like situations has always had the potentiality to snowball and result into a big law and order situation. The PTI workers should be allowed to vent their spleen at any place at a safe distance from Jati Umra and at the same time Nawaz League leadership should ensure that there is no assemblage of its workers in the vicinity of Raiwind or in the route through which the PTI rally is to pass.It should be left to the police to protect the life and property of the League ‘s political leaders located on the route of the PTI rally rather than leaving the task to the vigilantes of Nawaz League.
If Imran Khan is protesting against corruption in high places it is fair enough. One has to shout at the top of one’s voice to be heard if the state institutions responsible for entertaining applications against corruption , instead of delivering justice on them, start looking the other way.
