bilawal-bhutto-condemns-hazara-killing-1433766709-1803KARACHI, September 27: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto has strongly condemned the crackdown against the farmers and peasants by the Punjab Police to thwart the peasants sit-in scheduled in Lahore tomorrow.
He said that they have received reports about the highhandedness against the Pakistani Kissan Ittehad (PKI) which has planned a sit-in and a symbolic funeral of agriculture, to protest for their rights.
Bilawal said that instead of taking handcuffs, batons and shells to the poor farmers and peasants, the government should heed their demands and grievances and solve them.
He said PPP workers will participate in the peaceful sit-in and warned the federal government to desist from such acts, and said that the PPP and people of the country stand in complete solidarity with the protesting farmers and peasants.
He expressed concern over the reported arrests of 300 peasants in a crackdown in Punjab and demanded their immediate release.-Agencies
