- Says terrorists trying to prevent our children from attending schools will be defeated
ISLAMABAD, February 1: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that terrorism will be eliminated from every nook and corner of the country. Prime Minister also stated that the national resolve to fight terrorism and extremism is unflinching and those who are threatening our kids from going to schools will be defeated. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a high level meeting to review the progress on the implementation of National Action Plan all over the country on Monday at the Prime Minister House. The meeting was briefed about different stages of implementation of the National Action Plan. The Prime Minister stated that successful implementation of NAP is an imperative for everyone. The unmatched sacrifices rendered by Law Enforcement Agencies are commendable in this regard, added the Prime Minister. The meeting also appreciated the successes achieved in the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb. The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, DG ISI Lt. General Rizwan Akhtar, National Security Advisor Lt. General (R) Nasser Khan Janjua and other senior civil and military officials. According to sources of a private TV channel, the meeting discussed the national security situation as well as the matters relating to peace in the region. The meeting also discussed the progress of military operation Zarb-e-Azb and the implementation of the National Action Plan. Army chief took the prime minister into confidence regarding his contacts with Afghan leadership after the Bacha khan University Charsadda attack. The meeting also reviewed the progress regarding Pathankot and Bacha Khan University incidents. Nawaz Sharif stated that terrorists who are trying to prevent children from attending the schools will be defeated in any case. Meanwhile, National Security Advisor Lt-Gen (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua told the participants about the latest talks with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval regarding foreign secretary-level meeting. He also said India is looking forward for arrival of a special investigation team (SIT) to help probe into the Pathankot incident. However, information that the SIT sought has not yet been provided by India, he added. Regarding Afghanistan, sources said the civil-military leadership agreed to make quadrilateral talks successful at all costs. The foreign office official also briefed the meeting about the secretary-level talks with India.-Sabah/Agencies
