ISLAMABAD, October 20: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly (NA), Khurshid Shah has rhetorically asked the government on Thursday why the senior most general of the military is not selected to replace Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif after his tenure expires in November.
Shah expressed his concern by saying that should the delay in nomination of the next army chief be taken as a sign of a “planning” or not.
The opposition leader hinted at the General Elections 2018 when he expressed his concerns over delay in the decision.
Shah also censured Imran Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) by terming that the ‘Islamabad shut down’ call was unconstitutional. The statement has come in ahead of PTI’s forthcoming sit-in in the federal capital on November 2 as announced by Imran Khan.-Agencies
