It is Imran Khan who is threatening to force a lockdown in Islamabad to persuade the adamant prime minister to give in to the public pressure and either bow out or offer himself for probe. But in effect it is Mian Nawaz Sharif’s government itself which is planning to take all the steps required for a complete lockdown.
Whatever be the meaning of the term ‘lockdown’, in the context of the current political scenario, it means ‘bringing about a standstill’ in such a way that ‘governance’ becomes a nightmare for the Prime Minister. Whatever has come out from the secret meetings of the likes of Rana Sanuallah and company, suggests that the ‘standstill’ that IK is seeking though massive presence of the people in the streets and the on roads on November the 2nd, is going to be made certain by the measures that the administration is thinking of taking.
The crux of what Rana Sanaullah and company are threatening to do to counter Imran Khan’s plans is ‘to transform Pakistan into Nazi Germany’. What the ‘thugs’ manning this administration seem to be ingoing is that Hitler was presiding over a party that arguably was the most indoctrinated ‘mass of mankind’ at that period of time, and was in command of all the state institutions.
The ruling party of our country today is headed by a man whom the Supreme Court Chief Justice has indirectly and cynically called an emperor, and who besides facing very credible charges of massive corruption and graft is also suspected of having tried to breach ‘national security’.
The loud-mouthed ‘trumpeters’ of the PML (N) government are arguing vociferously that if the ruling family has offshore companies, so had Imran Khan, and so have Jahangir Tareen and Aleem Khan.
The poor fellows have no clue to what Panamagate case is all about.
The question before the nation is: SHOULD WE ALLOW OUR COUNTRY TO BE RULED BY A PRIME MINISTER WHO IS AN ACCUSED IN AN OPEN-AND-SHUT CASE OF CORRUPTION, MONEY-LAUNDERING, AND LYING, and is leaving no stone unturned to avoid a credible probe?
A supplementary key question is: Can a thief guarantee a theft-free governance, a theft-free electoral exercise and a theft-free social order?
