QUETTA, January 2:Army chief General Raheel Sharif has said Balochistan had a prosperous future, saying the process of bringing reforms will be continued to resolve the issues of the province.
Addressing a seminar titled “Prosperous Balochistan” in Quetta, General Raheel said 632km long roads had been laid in Balochistan, with the China Pakistan Economic Corridor set to play role of a game changer in the region.
Youths are Balochistan’s future, army chief said, adding Pakistan Army was working to impart education to 25,000 youngsters of the province.
General Raheel said sacrifices of Pakistan Army will yield peace for the country, saying it is regarded as one of the best armed forces in the world.
He, however, said forces could not establish peace without support from state institutions and the masses.
In April last year, the army chief and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had discussed extending Operation Zarb-e-Azb to Quetta, in a meeting that focused on security and law and order situation in the restive province.
The meeting had come days after a sickening orgy of bloodshed played out in a remote town of southern Balochistan on April 11 when 20 construction workers were methodically massacred in a predawn attack on their camp near Turbat city in Kech district of Balochistan.-Agencies
