NEW DELHI, December 5: Pakistan High Commissioner in India Abdul Basit has said Kashmir issue is core issue between Pakistan and India and Pakistan will not budge even an inch on Kashmir issue.
“Pakistan wants to resolve all outstanding issues through dialogue but talks process is linked to core issues. We will not budge even an inch on Kashmir issue”, he said this while talking to a private TV channel in New Delhi.He said that outstanding issues between Pakistan and India can be resolved through dialogue. But what happened on the eve of Heart of Asia Conference in Amritsar, India should mull over it seriously. He said, Pakistan is committed to peace and security in Afghanistan. He said, Pakistan is making sincere efforts for peace and stability in the region.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani criticised Pakistan with reference to terrorist organizations. Abdul Basit said, “By attending conference we have ensured the world that we want talks. But India is avoiding dialogue. However ball is in the court of India with reference to peace.”
He further stated that political attitude is must for talks process. “India should pursue political behaviour for talks. A better future of the region hinges on peace talks”, he added.
He went on to say Pakistan talks with India are conditioned with core issues. “The basic outstanding issues must be addressed for normalization in ties between Pakistan and India and peace in the region”, he further stressed.
“The only solution to Kashmir issue lies in UN resolution”, he added. He also said, “Resolution of Kashmir dispute is vital for ensuring lasting peace in the region.”
He underlined that finger pointing and war mongering will leave negative impact on mutual relations, peace, prosperity and development of the region.-Agencies
