  • Hurriyet leaders hail Pak support to Kashmir cause

SRINAGAR, February 5: In occupied Kashmir, people reciprocated the observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day in Pakistan by staging forceful pro-Pakistan and pro-freedom demonstrations in Srinagar, Hajin, Pulwama and other areas, Friday.
A large number of people took to the streets in Srinagar and Hajan chanting high-pitched slogans in favour of Pakistan and freedom and against India. They also waved Pakistani flags. Indian police fired teargas shells and bullets to disperse the protesters injuring several people including journalists.
Complete strike was observed in Hajan town against the killing of three youth, who were martyred by Indian troops, yesterday. Hurriyet leader, Zafar Akbar Butt, led a pro-freedom demonstration in Pulwama.Meanwhile, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani, ina statement in Srinagar said that in the present situation of the occupied territory, the Kashmiris needed more support from Pakistan in their struggle for right to self-determination. Hurriyet leaders including Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farida Bahenji, Zamruda Habib, Yasmeen Raja, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Zafar Akbar Butt, Firdous Ahmed Shah, Abdul Aziz Dar, Muhammad Shafi Reshi and illegally detained Masarrat Aalam Butt in their statements and messages said that Pakistan’s continued support had always been a source of inspiration for the Kashmiri people.
On the other hand, while Pakistanis observed solidarity with the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir, Friday, the illegally detained Hurriyet leader, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, completed 23 years in jail. Dr Fakhtoo was arrested on this day in 1993 in a fake murder case. He has not been released despite the recommendations of different committees and review boards constituted by the Indian government.-KMS
