- Asks concerned authorities for preparation of plans of dams to be used for irrigation and power generation purposes

PESHAWAR, December 19: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has directed for early construction and expansion of roads included in the already approved alternate traffic plan to ensure smooth implementation of bus rapid transit Peshawar project asking the concerned authorities to finalize award of the tenders to complete the project within the stipulated time.
This he said while presiding over a high level meeting regarding bus rapid transit scheme held at CM Secretariat Peshawar. Provincial Minister Muhammad Atif Khan, Special Assistant to CM for Transport Shah Muhammad Wazir, Chief Secretary Abid Saeed, administrative secretaries of the concerned departments and high ups attended the meeting.
The meeting was briefed about preparations for the execution of the mentioned project. The meeting was informed that traffic diversion plan for upcoming BRT scheme had been prepared already. The meeting was further told that in the alternate plan Peshawar city had been divided into southern and northern zones while each zone included two routes. The meeting was further informed that draft agreements had been finalized with two consultants.
The Chief Minister asked the concerned authorities for serious efforts to ensure completion of the project well and in time. He directed to complete the project till March 2018 at every cost.
Meanwhile, while presiding over a high level meeting at CM House Peshawar, the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak asked the concerned authorities for preparation of plans of dams to be used for irrigation and power generation purposes simultaneously to include it in the next ADP to attract foreign investors adding that future of the province depends on such projects which will bring progress and prosperity in the area and change destiny of the entire region.
The Chief Minister said that dams were very important for the future of the province to bring million acres of barren lands under cultivation by providing irrigation facilities to it. He said that dams could play important role in storing excessive water, provision of clean drinking water, minimizing threats of floods and power generation as well.-PR
