Pakistan, Qatar sign LNG agreement and several MoUs

DOHA, February 10: Pakistan and Qatar on Wednesday inked several Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) including import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), sources reported.
Under the LNG deal, Pakistan will import 3.75 million tons of LNG annually from Qatar which will fulfil 20 percent need of Pakistan.
The agreements were signed by the Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and the Chairman of Qatar Gas in Doha.
The signing ceremony was also witnessed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
The agreements and MoUs were signed to increase cooperation in diverse fields including Radio and Television, education, health and academic research between the two countries.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Doha and held a meeting with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
They discussed ways to enhance cooperation in different fields including energy, trade, investment and defence.
The two sides would also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
In his remarks during the meeting, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan offers attractive incentives for foreign investment and Qatar Investment Authority should explore the potential in different sectors particularly power generation projects.
He said that Pakistan values its bilateral relations with Qatar and both countries enjoy friendly relations.
Prime Minister said Pakistan is a suitable country for investment and quantum of investment should be enhanced.-Agencies
