There is no last word in politics. This proverb is correct as we have been witnessing such events almost daily in our life when people eat their words without any shame .A couple of days back Saleh Faisal Hayat rejoined the PPP .Now Nabeel Gabol has jumped on the bandwagon of Zardari. In the days to come many other prominent PPP elders who had deserted their party when it had fallen on bad days are likely to return to its fold.
The PPP leadership doesn’t feel any hesitation or shame in embracing these deserters for the reason that it understand that in the present system in which constituency politics play a predominant part, those who are rejoining PPP are winnable candidates so if they rejoin their original party so much the better as from their return the PPP has nothing to lose.
The political observers don’t see PPP setting Thames on fire in the next polls as it has not been able to regain its foothold in Panjab where it is continued to be in a disarray. A lot of time has been wasted by its leadership in reorganising the party in Panjab.Barring Sind where it is also facing governance issues, its position in other provinces is also far from satisfactory.Should elections are held tomorrow it is doubtful whether it would be able to make any appreciable headway there.Time is fast running out for it.
The financial shenanigans of the party in power in the centre as well as in the two provinces of the country are now talk of the town. The open debate in parliament and in the media as well as proceedings in the apex court in the matter have reflected very badly on the financial credentials of the rulers in Islamabad,Lahore and Balochistan and they are going to pay a heavy price for it at the hustings in 2018.
Odds are that the ruling party is going to lose many seats in the next year’s election and its loss would be the PTI’s gains and nobody else’s.If after all the PPP wins,it would be in Sind only .In other provinces it doesn’t have a cat in hell’s chance.
