LODHRAN, March 28: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif hit out at political opponents Imran Khan and the senior leadership of Pakistan Peoples party while addressing a gathering in the city on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister has claimed that the people of Pakistan would disown other parties in the upcoming general elections of 2018. He said that the loud cheers in shape of public support were a proof of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s rising popularity in the country.
Shehbaz Sharif said that PTI chairman Imran Khan used to refer to the Metro Bus as a ‘Jangla Bus’ but now the cricketer-turned-politician had announced his program to initiate a Metro Bus system in Peshawar. He stated that referring to the Metro Bus scheme as ‘Jangla Bus’ was an insult to human beings.
He also slammed the PTI chief for not supporting the Pakistan Super League final which was held in Lahore despite his status as a legendary cricketer.
“Imran was a renowned cricketer during his time. However, when the PSL final was held in Lahore, he opposed it,” said Shehbaz.
Sharif claimed that by the end of this year, the Prime Minister’s promise of ending the menace of load-shedding would come true.
“Billions are being invested in electricity projects,” he said. “If Modi wants, Pakistan can export electricity to India,” he added.
During his speech, the Punjab Chief Minister also slammed PPP’s senior leadership indirectly for their recent statements against the Punjab government.
“The head of a political party said that they would clean Punjab. Punjab is your home, you can come here any time you want,” he said. “But before you here, pick up the trash from Karachi,” he said.
In another indirect attack on PPP, Shehbaz Sharif said that Prime Ministers and Governors had gotten elected from South Punjab but they had done nothing for the area.
Shehbaz Sharif announced the provision of 20 air-conditioned buses for Lodhran as well as the construction of a road at Dunya Pur Mailsi.
Shehbaz Sharif claimed that his government in the province had spread a network of projects in South Punjab as well, adding that they would complete all projects within months. He said that he had spent his days and nights in South Punjab during floods.
He also talked about the PSL Lahore final, calling it a huge hit. “Some leaders opposed the final, they also criticised Metro bus. But now they’re starting the same transportation project in Peshawar.-NNI
