IHC directs for taking action against websites involved in uploading blasphemous content

ISLAMABAD, March 31: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the Ministries of Interior and Information Technology and other concerned quarters to identify and act against the websites involved in uploading of blasphemous content on the internet.
In his short order, the single bench of the court headed by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui directed Federal Investigation Agency to look into the matter on merit.
The court also directed to bring five bloggers to justice for uploading blasphemous content on the social media. It asked Secretary Interior to take action according to the law against those who are involved in the heinous crime.
The court also directed Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to evolve a clear mechanism for the removal of controversial content on the social media. PTA was asked to launch an awareness campaign about legal punishments for uploading blasphemous and immoral content on the internet. -NNI
