ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Sunday termed violence in the Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK) “New Delhi’s state-sponsored terrorism”.
“The violence perpetuated by Indian forces in IoK is state-sponsored terrorism by all definitions,” the army chief said during his visit to Haji Pir Sector along the Line of Control (LoC).
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Bajwa said, while the Indian aggression and frustration targeted the innocent Kashmiris and the people living in villages along the Pakistani side of the border, “we must keep our response purely in the military domain in accordance with our values.”
The army chief said that the violence by the Indian occupied forces riles up passions among the Pakistani people who “cannot remain indifferent to the barbaric treatment meted out to the defenceless Kashmiris.”
Vowing to stand by the Kashmiris’ rightful political struggle for their right to self-determination, Gen Bajwa said: “The Kashmiris have a right to live without fear and repression.” Earlier upon his arrival, the army chief was received by Rawalpindi Corps Commander Lt-Gen Nadeem Raza. The COAS was also briefed on LoC situation, Indian ceasefire violations and operational readiness of the Pakistan Army personnel in the region.-Agencies
