Sana Mir-led Pakistan bowling attack gifted Pakistan women’s cricket team their first-ever win over New Zealand women’s cricket team in ODIs in Sharjah on Sunday.
Mir, who was ousted from captaincy after a disastrous World Cup campaign, took four wickets in 8.4 overs to send the visitors packing on a score of 155 in third and final ODI of the ICC Women’s Championship.
Sam Curtis was New Zealand best batswoman with 50 off 77 balls courtesy four boundaries.
For Pakistan, after Mir, Sadia Yousuf was the most successful bowler with two wickets for 23 runs in her 10 overs.
Aiman Anwer, Nashra Sandhu and captain Bismah Maroof bagged one wicket apiece.
In their reply, Pakistan were helped by Bismah’s unbeaten 36 off 69 balls after openers Nahida Khan (23) and Sidra Ameen gave Pakistan a 40-run start.
Mir played a 34-ball 12-run cameo and played the winning shot to guide Pakistan towards their first victory in 13 attempts against the White Ferns.
For New Zealand, Anna Michelle Peterson bagged two wickets for 25 runs in her 10 overs.
Meanwhile, Pakistan lost the three-match series 2-1.
