We are not living in 21st century. We still live in ancient times. Had there been no private TV channels in this country, who would have shown us the footage of human beings and cattle drinking water from the same pond in Bhag Nari, Balochistan? Those rulers of this country, particularly those belonging to the last two politically elected governments, should hang their heads in shame for this state of affairs. They had been claiming that they had spent big amounts on Balochistan’s development. May one ask them to indicate the developmental projects on which they had spent money and how much? Or has it gone into the personal coffers of local Sirdars and political bigwigs? One remembers sack loads of Pakistani currency in billions recovered from the house of a senior bureaucrat in Quetta not long ago. Obviously, he could not have siphoned off this big amount out of Taxpayers’money money without the connivance of his political masters. What happened with him , no body knows. That news had also been broken by a private TV channel.
One of the reasons for the persistent backwardness of the largest province of this country is the fact that no doubt big annual budgets are allocated for its development but they are confined to the papers only. The sanctioned budget money in toto is seldom spent on the projects in whose names it is withdrawn. It, is, therefore, extremely essential that the common man of that Province must be apprised about the precise amounts earmarked for their development so that he should come to know as to who have been playing judas with him. Transparency in the flow of money to Balochistan must be ensured at every step. If that was not done a sense of deprivation would definitely develop in the common man of Balochistan.
