PESHAWAR, February 28: Former Federal Minister Anwar Saifullah Khan and President of a faction of the Pakistan Muslim League and Senator Salim Saifullah Khan have called for inclusion of southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the benefits expected from China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. They have also called for urgently taking up the long awaited Chashma Right Bank left irrigation, Kurrum Tangi Dam and a motorways through the said area.
They while talking to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak Sunday regretted that the Southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have continued to be ignored in the development of the country but hoped that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor provide an opportunity for the uplift of these areas. They said that political affiliation apart but the people and political leaders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa must join hands to ensure they fully benefit of this mega project. They said that the development of these areas will benefit the whole of Pakistan and beyond.
With regard to the prospects of taking up the Chashma Right Bank left irrigation scheme they demanded that its urgent execution must be ensured and should be accompanied by a roadways project of motorways as the existing Indus highways is in a dilapidated condition and never worth calling a road at all. They pointed out that if a railways line is constructed through the said region of KP the distance between Peshawar and the Karachi Seaport will be reduced by 400 km, thus benefiting the whole of the Pakistan and the neighboring countries.-PR
