RAWALPINDI, March 7: The top brass of the Pakistan Army on Thursday expressed its strong will, resolve and determination to defend the motherland against any misadventure or aggression.
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa (COAS) reviewed the geo-strategic environment and situation due to the ongoing Pakistan-India standoff during the 219th Corps Commanders’ Conference held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
The corps commanders expressed concerns on the increased Indian atrocities in Indian occupied Kashmir post the Palwama incident and the continued and deliberate targeting of civilians along the Line of Control by Indian occupying forces.
They stated that such brutalities will only fuel the fire and need to be stopped in the interest of regional peace which also merits world attention.
The progress of the implementation of the National Action Plan 2014 (NAP) was also discussed during the meeting.
The COAS appreciated the morale and performance of the forces and the nation’s support. The COAS also directed corps commanders to be vigilant and alert so they are prepared to respond to any threat.
“Pakistan is on the positive trajectory of peace, stability and progress. No one can make us budge through the use or threat of use of force. Similarly, policy and the right of use of force shall remain the prerogative of the state alone,” the COAS was quoted as saying by the ISPR.
He also asked to further increase efforts in line with the government’s decisions to accelerate the implementation of NAP while rendering full assistance to other state institutions.-Agencies
