ISLAMABAD, March 7: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Thursday that without streamlining Federal Board of Revenue, the tax net cannot be increased.
PM Imran was addressing a ceremony in the capital, where he said that for the progress of ‘Naya Pakistan’, introducing ‘tax culture’ is very important.
“If the FBR does not improve its functioning then a new FBR will be made,” he said.
PM Imran said that he completely trusted the nation and the reason behind his struggle is to eradicate poverty, adding that when the nation stands united no one can defeat it.
“When the nation is united no one can defeat it,” he said.
He said that the government’s biggest priority is making the lives of people better. The prime minister said the government is trying to improve the functioning of the institutions. PM Imran, while reacting to Pakistan People’s Party Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto’s speech in the National Assembly, said that the PPP government increased loans on the country.
“Those calling democracy the best form of revenge had increased the foreign loans manifold,” said the PM.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the National Action Plan is being implemented in national interest.
PM Imran Khan presided over a meeting of the federal cabinet in which the cabinet was taken in confidence on matters pertaining to national security and implantation of NAP was reviewed.
Briefing media on cabinet decisions in Islamabad, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said the direction by the prime minister indicates that the PTI government has no personal enmity with any person.
Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi briefed the meeting about progress on the NAP. The cabinet reiterated the commitment for complete implementation of the National Action Plan.
According to sources PM Imran Khan said that all political parties are signatory to National Action Plan of 2014 that includes a provision that soil of Pakistan will not be used against any other country. He said the activities of proscribed organizations are already banned in the country.
Cabinet decided that strategy regarding action against proscribed organizations will be made in consultation with all parliamentary leaders.
The prime minister apprised the cabinet about tense situation between Pakistan and India to which the cabinet appreciated the steps taken by Imran Khan to decrease the escalation.-Agencies
