But for the social media that has been instrumental in exposing everything that happens in the different walks of life, the atrocities being committed by the lunatic fringe within the BJP on the hapless Muslim minority in India would never have come to light. What is, however, pitiable is the fact that not a tiny finger is being raised by the Muslim world against India which comprises over 50 countries in the world. The religious Hindu fanatics have made life of the Indian Muslims miserable, particularly, in those areas where they are in a minority.
The recent court verdict giving a clean bill of health to almost all the accused in the killing of 49 Pakistani passengers of Samjotha express a couple of years back has rubbed salt into the wounds of Muslims. It is sad that the said court verdict has gone almost unnoticed in the Muslim world.
There is no denying the fact that the BJP had started treading on a violent path after its mild-mannered leaders like Vajpai and men of his ilk were sidelined by the hawkish element within the party who took a cue from an extremist like Modi. The youth belonging to the BJP have imbibed extremism from the belligerent posture of their leaders. They have grown up in an atmosphere impregnated with bellicosity and hostility against the Muslims and other religious minorities living across the length and breadth of India. It would be a sad day for the peace of the sub-continent if Modi and his henchmen win the forthcoming general elections. Many political observers consider the next few days in India very crucial because trigger-happy Modi might go for another surgical limited strike against Pakistan in order to build up war hysteria on the eve of election which he thinks can unite the Indians behind him thus paying his party in the polls.
