US-India nexus against Pakistan

China on Monday said positive progress has been made in the process to resolve the issue of listing Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad chief, Masood Azhar as a global terrorist, and accused the US of complicating the matter by taking Azhar’s listing directly to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Beijing said the US move is against peace in south Asia. “After the application for designation of Azhar was proposed (in the 1267 committee), China is in close communication and coordination with various parties and made positive progress. The US knows that very well,” foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said at the regular media briefing on Monday. Referring to Washington’s move to take the case directly to the UNSC he said: “We believe under the current circumstances forcing a draft resolution at the (UN) Security Council is not a constructive move and set a bad example”.
Having failed in getting Masood Azhar listed in the 1267 sanctions Committee despite its persistent efforts, the US circulated a resolution four days ago among the Security Council members amidst a frenzied diplomatic campaign by India at the UN. Many members of the Security Council believe this rush for a listing has more to do with the upcoming Indian election than any other factor, as Narendra Modi apart from losing on military front faces an uphill task at the ballot box. The United States is striving to get Masood Azhar placed on the UN sanctions blacklist more to enhance Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s electoral chances, according to several diplomats following the developments at the UN. “It seems the US wants to use this ploy as a gift to Modi, as he faces challenges in his bid for re-election,” a senior diplomat at United Nations said.
Many believe that uprising in Kashmir is due to the barbaric acts of Indian armed forces. French journalist Paul Comiti has recently released his documentary “Kashmir: The War on the Roof of the World”, exposing the massive genocide of the Kashmiris by Indian forces in the valley. In the documentary, it was shown that the indiscriminate firing and pallet gun shootings on the people were carried out on daily basis. In 1 hour and 18 minutes duration, the film further displayed the bloodshed of innocent Kashmiris in the beautiful and mesmerizing valley. According to him, a school was targeted by mortar fire and despite gaping holes in the walls, the school was operational. “We filmed this endless war by India for almost 60 years,” he said, adding India has seized a paradise, which is perhaps one of the most beautiful places on the planet.
A couple of retired Indian generals were not satisfied with India’s policy in IHK. A former general of the Indian Army, Lt. General (r) Syed Ata Hasnain commended the Pakistan Army’s media wing, ISPR for adopting an outstanding strategy in the domain of hybrid warfare. Speaking at a seminar organised by the International Institute of Strategic Studies in London, he acknowledged that ISPR outclassed the Indian Army in the information war. Earlier, after Pulwama attack, the retired Lt. General D.S. Hooda, had told The Associated Press before Indian jets dropped bombs at Balakot, that “while some kind of limited (military) strike (against Pakistan) is more than likely, he hoped for “rethinking and reconciliation” from all sides in the conflict. The former General was in charge of the army’s northern command at the frontier with Pakistan in Kashmir and counterinsurgency operations.
Meanwhile, in its efforts to harm CPEC, the United States clinched a strategic port deal with Oman on Sunday, which US officials said would allow the US military better access to the Gulf region and reduce the need to send ships through the Strait of Hormuz. The US embassy in Oman said in a statement that the agreement governed US access to facilities and ports in Duqm as well as in Salalah and reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to promote mutual security goals”. A US official said the deal was significant by improving access to ports that connect to a network of roads to the broader region, giving the US military great resiliency in a crisis. “We used to operate on the assumption that we could just steam into the Gulf,” he said, adding, however, that the quality and quantity of Iranian weapons raises concerns.
