ISLAMABAD, April 2: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his U.S counterpart Mike Pompeo on Tuesday held a telephonic conversation during which the two figures exchanged views on Afghan peace process and Islamabad’s facilitation in that regard, according to the Foreign Office of Pakistan. The two figures agreed on continuing cooperation with regard to the ongoing peace process in Afghanistan, the Foreign Office said in a statement.
They also discussed the visit of US Special Representative for Afghan reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad to Pakistan.
During the conversation, Qureshi informed Pompeo that intra-Afghan talks were a key component of this reconciliation process, according to the statement. He also stressed the need for contacts between the Pakistani and US leadership. – Agencies
