ISLAMABAD, June 20: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan on Thursday has said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif is confused in his political approach.
In a tweet, Dr Firdous said on one side, Shehbaz Sharif offers his support for charter of economy whereas on the other, he is threatening the government.
The special assistant said PML-N has no narrative except protecting interests of its personal businesses.
Earlier, Dr Firdous said negative propaganda against PM Imran
Khan is being run as he wants supremacy of law. Those making empty threats could not do anything about the budget, she added.
“The Opposition is invited to present amendments for the benefit of the people and we will get them passed,” the PTI leader said.
She rejected the propaganda of opposition, adding that Imran Khan was chosen by public over the rulers of the past.
This is the best budget and nation would witness that these people would not be able to do any harm to budget, the special assistant asserted.
It may be noted that Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif took aim at the PTI-led coalition government over its economic policies saying if the budget is anything to go by, it spells pain and misery for the people.
“How do you explain the government’s economic policy? This Budget, coming on the heels of two failed mini-budgets, will further contract economy, lead to price hike & reduce social sector spending,” he said in a series of tweets.
“The free-fall of rupee against dollar has further overburdened people, making it next to impossible for them to make their both ends meet,” the PML-N president said and added the PTI government has neither a plan nor capacity to run the economy and steer the country out of the problems created by their own incompetence.
“There is still time for the government to revise the Budget and make it people-friendly. I suggested a whole range of measures that can be incorporated to make it less harsh on the people,” he said. -DNA
