Directs AJK government to devise strategy for tourism promotion
ISLAMABAD, June 20: A high-level Chinese delegation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Consultative Committee called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Thursday.
During the meeting, the prime minister said that Pak-China all-weather friendship is changing into an economic partnership, adding that Pakistan gives importance to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He said that agriculture, social, economic development and other sectors have been added in the CPEC, adding that the project has entered its second phase after inclusion of all these projects in the CPEC.
Imran Khan assured the delegation that Pakistan would take every possible step to make CPEC stronger and effective.
Pakistan wanted to take advantage of Chinese experience and expertise in different sectors, Khan said and added a cell would be established in the PM office to make the partnership and business more effective. Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed Azad Kashmir government to devise a comprehensive strategy for promotion of tourism in Azad Kashmir.
Chairing a meeting on development projects, promotion of tourism and other matters of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in Islamabad , he said there is huge potential of tourism in Azad Kashmir, which needs to be exploited aptly. The Prime Minister said overseas Pakistanis are the biggest asset of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and their problems should be solved on priority basis.
Speaking on the occasion, Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider said the PTI government’s new visa policy is proving helpful in promotion of tourism in Azad Kashmir. NNI
