Besides American and other many western governments, their intellectuals, think-tanks and columnists continue to denigrate Pakistan and its institutions. Among them some noteworthy are Declan Walsh, Seymour Hersh, Christian Fair, Steve Cole, Brian Stelter, Christina Lamb and many others. Most of them are on the payroll of Indian lobbyists and think tanks. Lately, Lawrence Sellin, a US army retired reservist colonel from New Jersey, has been writing articles and tweets on daily basis, in which he accuses Pakistan of duplicity that caused the US lose Afghan war. Since 2017, he is criticizing Pak-China friendship for power imbalance in the region. In December 2018, he wrote an article “China-Pakistan Alliance a Threat” was published in the Indian Defence News, in which he stated that “the Americans need to recognize that Pakistan is not a friend of the United States, but a staunch ally of China”.
He named CPEC as a reason for so-called human right violations in Balochistan besides terming it as official Pakistani state policy to suppress ethnic self-determination. So much so that he called Pakistan as the Yugoslavia of South Asia. However, Sellin’s one slip while summing up the article exposed his motive and also that on whose behest he writes against Pakistan. He wrote: “A successful implementation of the Chinese-Pakistani plan would mean isolation of India, which is not at all advantageous to the International order”. His article was published in Indian Defence News, later lifted by many other online portals, which shows that he is another India’s stooge in Washington DC. There is a question mark on his credibility, as even by his own countrymen and his colleague journalists call him ‘Disinformation Campaigner’. He is normally taunted as a creepy piece of work, and general readers are usually warned not to take him seriously.
Col ® Lawrence Sellin, the author of ‘Restoring the Republic: Arguments for a Second American Revolution’, has been critical of US presidents, Media and the ruling elite. But in his recent articles, he has come out with sinister plans against Pakistan. In 2018, he wrote: “Pakistan and Iran fuel the insurgency in Afghanistan; Balochistan has strong presence of the Taliban and serves as a support base for war in Afghanistan. Iran is also fueling Baloch insurgents and there are serious differences between Iran and Pakistan. China will use CPEC to acquire strategic advantage. Completion of CPEC will seriously hurt the US interests.” He suggested that the US must stop focusing on Afghanistan’s insurgency and instead focus on measures to separate Balochistan from Pakistan, which will eliminate Taliban’s safe haven. Lawrence Sellin is spewing venom against Pakistan and surpassed all other anti-Pakistan writers.
He went on to write that Chinese regional hegemony as represented by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the related construction of Chinese military bases on the Arabian Sea could be thwarted. This shows how US hawks in military openly suggest policy options to destabilize other countries and their allies to stir chaos. Congressman Dana Rohrabacher had met Altaf Hussain and Khan of Kalat and vowed to support Baloch separatists. Last year, Afghan President and Foreign Minister visited India and held negotiations with Indian top leadership, which had secret discussions with the then Afghan national security adviser Hanif Atmar, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Dr. Abullah Abdullah. These visits related to the visits of US Secretaries of Defence and State to both India and Afghanistan. And the outcome was witnessed in shape of increased pressure on Pakistan with renewed threats and allegations.
