The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formed a three-member independent panel of experts which will finalize the teams of six regions.
The domestic season 2019-2020, based on a new domestic structure containing six regions, is all set to kick off in September.
Former cricketers Misbah-ul-Haq, Rashid Latif and Nadeem Khan have been appointed in the committee to review and finalise the initial teams formed by Tauseef Ahmed, Wajahatullah Wasti, Wasim Haider (all members of former selection committee), Saleem Jaffer, Arshad Khan, Rao Iftikhar, Taufeeq Umer (all members of junior selection committee) and Akram Raza, Azam Khan, Ijaz Ahmed Junior and Raj Hans.
As many as 32 players will be finalized and get the domestic contract by the PCB for the next 12 months.
Latif thanked the PCB for giving him an opportunity to highlight the young emerging talent. “Pakistan has immense talented cricketers and we will try to form suitable combinations for each side,” he said.
The MD PCB Wasim Khan believes that the three-member committee will do fair selection to set-up a strong domestic season. “PCB believes in no favoritism and we are hopeful to get the strong team,” Khan added.
It is pertinent to mention here that the cricket associations will participate in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy first-class competition, National T20 Cup and Pakistan Cup One-Day Tournament. The 2019-20 season will run from 12 September to 24 April.
