There is a need to amend some provisions of the Jail Manual which govern the boarding and lodging of jail inmates. For instance, why should there be discriminatory treatment with the prisoners or convicts in regard to their mode of stay in jail?A convict is a convict whether he is rich or poor or if he had served or was serving on important governmental position when due to some crime committed by him he landed in jail. Why on earth, therefore, the so-called VIPs be given some special class or room in jail or allowed meals from their home or given air conditioner while other jail inmates are denied such facilities. This class system prevalent inside the jails need to be done away with at once.
In the same manner, why the hell should those persons who are holding important positions in the government’s hierarchy should be exempted from prosecution in the courts in criminal or civil cases while they are holding their positions ?If we look at our history even the first four caliphs didn’t enjoy this immunity.
The other bad habit that has now almost become a political tradition is that on the occasion of trial of any politician, his party men assemble in hordes in the court room or in the court premises on the day of hearing and indulge in hooliganism. The courts must limit in the court room or in its premises presence of only the defence counsels and don’t allow court premises to be turned into public meetings. No doubt freedom of expression is the basic right of every individual but that does not mean that there should be no -holds- barred permission to a person to exercise this right.
