The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) kicked off the second day of drafting for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Lahore’s National Cricket Academy on Tuesday.
Today, all teams will look to pick a minimum of seven players; five from silver category and two from emerging players category.The most surprising non-selection of day one and two was when Pakistan World T20 winning captain Younus Khan was not selected by any team.
Pakistan ODI captain Azhar Ali was able to get a position in Lahore after being drafted from Silver category. He was initially drafted in the Diamond category.
Meanwhile, Asad Shafiq was Quetta’s second pick from the Silver category of players.
Saeed Ajmal, Pakistan’s ace off-spinner before being banned for an illegal bowling action, could only make it into the Islamabad squad as a Supplementary player. Fawad Alam, the left-hand run-machine, was also drafted as a Supplementary player by Karachi Kings.Abdul Razzaq, once the most reliable all-rounder in the Pakistan team, also made it into the Supplementary list for Lahore, with opening batsman Mukhtar Ahmed and right-arm medium pacer Ehsan Adil.
Pakistan T20 captain Shahid Afridi was picked by Peshawar Zalmi. Karachi Kings bagged Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik. Islamabad United brought Shane Watson in as their iconic player. Quetta Gladiators chose Kevin Pietersen while Lahore Qalandars were left with the choice of Chris Gayle as their iconic player.
